What are some differences of a Franchise vs. MLM? Both seem to possess the same qualities of selling products worldwide…right?

….also known as Network Marketing is a business distribution model that allows a parent multi-level marketing company to market their products directly to consumers by means of relationship referral and direct selling.

Typically when I think of franchises, I think of store fronts, restaurants etc. The 5 examples I listed for franchises are actually of the Top Ten Franchises for 2008 (listed at Entrepreneur.com)…….8 of those 10 being restaurants. Franchises can also be very expensive. True, you can make a lot of money with a franchise, but, one can surely obtain a lot of stress and debt with loans and upkeep costs. Other examples of franchises can be nail salons, barber shops, flower shops etc. All of which are great investments, but most cannot start OR maintain a franchise for that matter because of loans, bad credit, past bills, etc. That’s not to say it can’t be done but for the majority, the path can be a struggle.

When I think of MLM (or network marketing), its somewhat the same but different in other ways. With MLM, there are no huge investments as compared to thousands of dollars invested into a franchise. One of my mentors told me before…”If you get started for a few hundred bucks and it doesnt work…what have you really lost?” MLM works depending on the company.
Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump (2 franchise owners) recommend network marketing in their book titled, “Why We Want You To Be Rich”. You can also research the internet and view videos with Robert Kitosaki explaining the mlm model.

My bottom line….if you can afford a franchise and thats what you want to do…by all means go for it. I would advise you talk with current franchise owners and your city/state ordinances for educated information. If you’re like myself and would like to pay a minimum investment and receive maximum rewards, take a look into the mlm arena….you may be surprised. . When I chose to take a look at the home based business mlm model, it turned out to be the best decision I could have made.

What are the secrets to success? This has become a common question throughout the world as people are trying to find out what it takes to become successful. So much that there have been several books and video dialogue on the subject.

Well first let me ask, what are you seeking success in? Success runs deeper than financial gain as many believe. Do you seek success in business, parenting, weight loss/gain or in a better relationship? One must first realize where they need to target in order to gain that success.

I will share with you a few of my thoughts on the secrets to success if you have a few moments.

“There are no secrets”. Being successful is something done by (to name a few) learning, studying, focus, self-determination and a lot of patience. As the saying goes, “One must crawl before they can walk.” Well let me take it deeper…….”One must first be born, then crawl, then walk, then jog and then RUN.”
Being successful in anything is not an overnight success. Today I will gear this toward business because success in business is my vision.

Pay attention to successful people and do what they do…..by the same token, pay extra attention to what the unsuccessful people are doing and do the exact opposite.

Get involved with a mentor that is in a place that you want to be, or one that is heading in the same direction.

Refrain from listening to the people that are not educated in your goals. For example, If you are trying to earn $20,000 per month…are you going to listen to someone that is doing so (or on that path) or your broke friend that tells you it’s impossible?

Listen to and read dialogue from people who are already where you are trying to go.

These are just a few of the lessons I have learned from one of my mentors and I hope these tips help you in your journey. I wish you further blessings on your journey and I hope this has helped you to uncover what some call, the secrets to success.

Are you so lost in emotion, that you are not careful to plan or think things through? People will occasionally fall into situations where they are too emotionally attached to the wrong things. Getting lost in emotion at the car dealer for that cherry red Mercedes CLK will quickly put you in debt if you purchase it on a Burger King Cashiers’ salary. :-)

We sometimes get in this situation over our jobs or affiliate businesses. Getting lost in emotion can really tear you away from why you started the business or got the job in the first place. Normally, our main goal is too improve in areas so that we can heighten our compensation to feed our families so to speak. In reality and unfortunately, some of us fall victim to getting so lost in emotion, that we lose sight of the initial agenda. If you know for a fact that your current job is moving to another country, or that your current business is slowly but surely going under, why haven’t you planned your next move?

What is your plan “B”, as they say. If you and a friend are crossing the street and you BOTH see a truck coming at top speed…don’t ask the next person to not panic because you think the truck MIGHT stop. If the other person has sense enough to get out of the way and you don’t……that seems to be YOUR issue…not theirs. My point is this……don’t get so caught up in “hype” of things, to where you lose focus of your main goals. Going this route not only affects you, but it can affect your family and friends around you. If things are steadily going in a wrong direction, don’t be a victim to it…….don’t be the one that sits back and wonder “What the HECK just happened?”…because you were too lost in emotion.
